Ok here is what's new
June 25, 2009
I know I haven't been able to post as much as I would have liked lately. I will keep updating the pictures as a priority, and the show fliers and list. I have been very busy being out in the real world cruising and bumming around. I still have a lot to write about, but it may have to wait till the snow flies. That will be far too soon already. If I get some time I will try to write, and post it up, but do not expect much please. I would like to write more but I m very busy it seems, good!
I can say its been very nice here and the weather has been cooperating so far this season. I liked the Oaktown Trucks show, and Gratiot is definitely not "the sh!t". This will be St. Ignace weekend Hooray! Come up! If you see me there please stop me and say hello when you recognize me. Until I can spare another minute...Thanks for hangin with me and keep checkin' back!

Cinco De Mayo Weekend Part One
May 7, 2009
The season is off to a fine start. I had some fun and a great adventure. First let me say thanks to those of you who took the time to comment on the site. So far as of Thursday night, I have the pics all uploaded and am getting set to work on getting them on here, and I have some thoughts gathered to write about. I will have to keep you waiting a few more days.
My excursion was sponsored in part by taking a job picking up some parts far into Ohio. On Monday, after a great cruisin weekend I journeyed into unfamiliar territory. After a nice helping hand with some directions from some fellow car guys, I was on my way. This part of my trip was the most adventurous, but mainly uneventful. I did get to see some interesting sights along the way, like the old Chevy truck bone yard. There must have been 2 or 3 dozen 40's, 50's, and 60's Chevy trucks all lined up in the front yard, and a sea of rust into the back forty. I gained another insight into the wonderful world of internet wheeling and dealing, when I arrived to pick up the gentlemen’s parts. All I can say is it’s a good thing you don’t know exactly who you are dealing with. Not that the guy with the parts was in any way specifically evil that I could tell, but shady might fit, or as I like to say, suspect. I knew already the gentleman farmer who purchased these parts was in a bad deal, but that’s how we learn. Every one please use more than just common sense when dealing over the net, and never assume anything. Go look at the unit, and make a deal face to face, never trust pictures. On the other hand maybe these parts were worth the freight, I got my gas money paid for, and that’s something to me. From Saturday morning till Wednesday afternoon I logged in about 1500 miles, no sweat. The sacrifice to not drive my Cadillac, was the opportunity to take the truck and make my gas money back for the weekend. We all have to do what ever it is we do to enjoy our interests.
That’s part one. In my next installment I hope to have finished after the weekend, I am going to talk about my thoughts on the Bearing Burners GM Tech Center show, the little I experienced in Saginaw for their Cinco De Mayo celebration, my good time on Woodward Ave. On Saturday night, The South West Detroit Cinco De Mayo parade traffic jam, and the Good Times C.C. Picnic of course!

First Cruisin’ Weekend Of The 2009 Season
May 1, 2009
So The season should be getting underway this weekend! I’m not sure of the weather, but we’ll hope for the best. Since its still cold here where I am, I will only be a spectator, and won’t be driving my convertible this time around. Also if all goes well I will let you know how I plan on paying for this trip. I would like to hit up the parade in Saginaw, and hopefully catch up with a few friends there. The main stop will be Sunday in south west Detroit, for the parade, and the Good Times C.C. 3rd annual picnic. These events are celebrating Cinco’ De Mayo, of course. I am mostly looking forward to a mexican feast, in the best place for real authentic mexican food south of the Mackinaw bridge, in southwest Detroit! I hope to see all of you out there! The weather will have a big impact on the participation in these events. Let us hope it at least stays dry. It is also yet to be seen how the economy will impact all the shows and cruisers this summer. Many shows have been cut back, or simply canceled altogether. The only bright spot this year is the discount on fuel since the previous years. If fuel stays at the current price levels, that should help, I know I would like to take my guzzling Cadillac out more often this summer. I think this should give us all the added motivation to get back out on the streets and do some cruising! It is only the beginning of May, but I have a sooner start this year than I had last. I am excited to get started, and have high hopes for the coming year. Please if you see me, let me know what you really think about what I am trying to do here, and your thoughts on anything.
It’s late, I’m tired. I’ve been busy around home here, and things are just starting to thaw out. I will be back in a few days, and will try to have my photos and a few notes on my trip by maybe after next weekend with any luck. Stay tuned, and keep cruisin’ into the future.

USMA Members Only Meeting Today
April 19th, 2009
I regretfully announce that I will not be attending the USMA members meeting today. I would like to send my very best to those who attend. I miss y’all. I encourage everyone that has an interest in cars, especially in local metro Detroit car shows and cruising, to look for your nearest USMA show or cruise in, and do just that, cruise in. If your interest goes beyond that of a cruiser looking to hang out and show off, USMA is a great place to get involved with your local car community, even if it is just hanging out showing your support for our fascinating car culture.
I don’t think I had anything positive to bring up at the meeting anyhow. It would have just been another symbolic gesture of my respect, support, and appreciation, for the opportunities and generosity they have showed me over the years. I will miss the chance to see some of my friends, but the cruisin’ season is almost here. To be honest I often have had keep my mouth shut, and continue to live better knowing the fact that I have conrol over very little, and I do not take any responsibility for anything out of my control anymore. I would enevitibly just make the situation worse if I opened my big mouth. Its easier just being on the sidelines, but it breaks my heart not be as involved as I once was. Granted the argument that I am far away from the motor city has a strong case, but my commitment will show here on www.eupaa.com, and whererever my cruiser and me show up this summer.
Give me a year, I am sure to offend someone very soon, along with further alienating myself. I wll say now that I will try to continue with having a positive attitude and with any luck I will able to inform and entertain my handfull of readers, thanks.
Signs Of Spring
April 19th, 2009
Finally spring has sprung, and its getting warmer. I so love my Cadillac! She still smelled nice and fresh inside, there was no oil slick under her, the battery was charged still, and after hooking up the cable, She started right up, like my pup Ripley excited to be let out. I checked her over and took her for a little spin. Ahhh, it’s one of life’s pleasures. I do take a small pleasure in the fact that my car just needs to be loved and cared for. I don’t have to go through major procedures before hitting the road, or even after having her waiting patiently for me and the weather all these long cold months. I’m glad gas is reasonable again! I cruised down to the gas station for some fresh fuel, she was almost dry. A warm sunny Friday evening. I stopped and took a couple photos at the lighthouse, you can see the snows still not all gone, but the roads are dry and we’re cruisin’!

I wanted to hit the road for a nice cruise, but I was only out for an hour or so. I didn’t want to get to far away quite yet. My Lincoln should be heading for a new home shortly, and I am looking forward to the completion of the transaction, mainly because I keep having this cartoon vision of the wolf hungry after a long winter looking at his friendly animal companion on a plate with an apple in its mouth, in a balloon over their heads. That’s kinda how I feel about the Lincoln right now, I need a good project lowrider to sink my teeth into after being inside all winter.
Keeping the faith…
April 19th, 2009
Mr. Mid~west POST ON MYSPACE:
Not one person has called me to cruise! Not one! You truly disappoint me. I’ve asked so many of you for help. And not one response back. My money isn’t even good enough apparently, because I’ve asked shops to get me in as well and no one will call me back. I was in Lethal Lowz for seven years! I went to all the shows and registered a vehicle, if not a vehicle, then at least my bike. Everyone of you knows “Project Pat” on a personal level because I’ve made time for all of you and considered you to be a friend and someone i respect in the custom car community. Lowriding is in my blood forever. And i will go on doing what i can to continue the tradition of cruising. With or without my custom car “friends”.
Sincerely,
”Project” Pat E.
Continue, please. Lets not let other people’s decisions effect ours. I will stand up with anyone in Michigan to promote our lifestyle. I been cruising on my own since I was 16, and to be honest, I like to think if I wasn’t cruising Woodward in the 80’s, there would never have been a Woodward dream cruise, and it would have just faded away. I did what I though was cool, no matter nobody else wanted to cruise there, but you see how it is now! Where were they all at when I was the only car out there all summer in the 80’s? (my book coming on this subject in the future)
Now I am going to continue to bring the wonderful world of lowriding into uncharted territories, like the upper peninsula of Michigan, where a good car show is 50 real old guys with there antique coupes and muscle cars. I am happy to do this, I am used to being on the outskirts of popularity.
Don’t lose the faith brother. Cruise today like it may be our last.
Cruising into the future,
“Double A”
Just waitApril 10th, 2009
I have so many things soaring through my mind, and a lot I want to write down to share. Please bear with me. This site is just up and I have not even touched the surface of what I want to say. I plan on discussing topics like, #1 The car show scene, my experiences with car shows and car clubs, car culture politics, the buy or build issue, personal opinions on everything and more. I will be posting a revue of the events I attend, in an effort to inform and to record my personal experiences. I will probably wait till after the summer to get deep into my thoughts on the more difficult subjects, as I am sure there might be some opposing opinions on. I will try to be impartial and objective, and unless I call out a specific person in no uncertain terms, I will try to have meant no harm in what I will say. I can say now I don’t hold a grudge for anyone in particular, so please in the future do not take anything I might say personally. I have been thinking of what I want to say for a long time, and it should be close to a book by the time I’m done I hope. I am going to continue to keep shaking up things in my territory, I want to be involved, I want to do more than I can.
I recently saw in interview on 60 mins. where the basketball star had a great quote: “You can’t be afraid to fail.” I’m gonna try that, along with the hope that seems to be spreading this year. With that in mind try and keep a positive attitude and keep “Cruisin’ into the future!”
What happened to the great links?April 10th, 2009
I am disappointed to find that some of my old school links on the web are now long gone. What happened to hydroguru? That used to be a good site, but its gone. And some of the old school shops sites are gone, as with some of the car clubs. I just hope everyone else is just working on their rides. I will try to add what I can now, but if you would like to recommend some that would be just fine. Also please if I am missing yours, let me know, maybe I forgot. Its been a long time since I did much on the net. Does anyone remember DetroitLowriders? That was one of my first attempts at a web presence, and it lost interest, that was back as far as when LayitLow first started to be popular. If your trying to reach out on the Internet for info, that’s a great place to start. I personally do not like the message board style of the site, but its very interesting reading none the less.
I am doing this site mostly for my own personal interests. I have learned making a schedule for the summer events is easier then finding out at the last minute. I often travel a good distance to attend the events I have an interest in, so I plan ahead. I make my own list of the events I like, as an itinerary for my summer. Now my tastes differs from a lot of cruisers out there, so take it at your own discretion. I have found that others have have gotten good use of my lists over the years, and I do not mind sharing, in fact I encourage it. I promote some of these show because I support the people behind them. I definitely do not get anything for doing this, other than my own itinerary, and the satisfaction of actually doing something constructive.
Gallery pics coming soon?April 8th, 2009
So as I was going through my pics I had a startling realization, but let me get back to that. I’ve collected a lot of pictures from over the years. Mostly from car shows and events I have attended. Some go back the start of my lowridin’ days in the late 90’s. That’s only about a dozen years so far. I have the same pics my friends have seen many times, but if you haven’t seen them, its a great look into the recent past. There might be your old car, an old friend, an old friends car. I can say that these where the top 75% of the cars roaming and cruising the metro Detroit area and Michigan in the y2k period, year 200. These pics should show anyone just how far the Great Lakes region has come in a dozen years. Yea there were lowriders before us, and it still continues, and grows, but these give you an idea of where we came from. If you pay attention you can see some of the same cars transform from almost scratch, to worthy show cars. There are cars you will never see again, and cars that are still hidden away. And you may not want anyone to see the pics of the now dismembered car clubs of the past. Yet there is still more great memories for the clubs that have survived over the years.Mostly though unless you know, or go to a lowrider show, the web is gonna be the only place you can see a car on the back bumper, and a picture pales in comparison to the experience of seeing, hearing, and feeling it live in your face, just not too close please.
My startling realization was to look back at all my photos and discover that several of the cars owners, or even persons in the photo, had passed on. It saddened me to think about. “Life’s too short, Cruise today like it may be your last”a quote from a good friend and mentor, AKA Milner, never felt so appropriate. I share the quote with all of you in hopes that we can do exactly that, especially to show our respects for our missed brothers and sisters of the blessed lowrider on their journey cruising the miracle mile to heaven.
There’s gonna be no rush…
Vida Guerra on Livin’ The Low LifeApril 8th, 2009
The speedvision show Livin The Low Life, with Vida Guerra. I’ve seen most of these, but I saw the rerun today with, What is a lowrider? I had not seen this prior to typing out my possible answer to that. I truly thought she and the show did a fine job of trying to narrow it down, especially fom an automotive standpoint. I respected the fact that the show made a point of crediting the lowrider style for the influences in a “new school” age of car customization. I liked that they talked a little bit of what I considered lowriders all along. The big rim donks, the custom tuners, and the custom and mini trucks to name a couple. I dont think that other groups like the term lowrider though. I hope to add more thoughts on these subjects, and will in time. Lets just say Vida is the best thing to come from Cuba since their cigars eh? Bless her heart.
Thanks!April 5th, 2009
Here’s saying a heart felt thanks to Ayla Z for putting this together for me and the lowriders out there! Even though this was all my idea, Ayla has been instrumental in bringing this to the world with me. Without her, this site would have been dull and drab, but she has taken the site to the next level and I think it looks great! 3cheers for Ayla! Hip hip, HOORAY! Hip hip HOORAY! Hip hip. HOORAY! She has made one of the nicest sites in the entire Michigan’s upper peninsula! THANKS TO YOU YOUNG WOMAN! -AA
